We were in London for the High Voltage music festival in Victoria Park, and as we were down for the weekend decided to try a local restaurant.

Like everywhere these days, there is a large choice of eateries in the East End, and this has had good reviews elsewhere so this was chosen for the Yellowfingers treatment.

A contemporary restaurant, obviously going for the young business and party people crowd, we were encouraged by the number of Asian folk eating here. It must be good if the local Asian community use it, right?

The menu here is not extensive, but I think they are going for quality over a massive choice -which I am told is a ‘good thing’.

So, I chose a Onion Bhaji starter followed by a Murgh Madras main course, accompanied by a Tandoori Roti.

Unfortunately my Onion Bhaji was cakey, almost supermarket shop bought style, and my Roti was very dry….it reminded me of a Jacobs cream cracker…not right surely?

My main course was perfectly acceptable, however I find the staff not clearing away the starter plate, and leaving you to use it for the main also, a little odd….Is that a London thing or did they forget?

Is it just me, but does all chicken in London Curry restaurants all have a smokey barbecue flavour? Thats not a criticism by the way. I quite like that, but as a Midlander, it’s just not what I am used too….

My companions rated this restaurant pretty highly, The vegetarian in our party raved about her Tadka Dall, and my buddies Tandoori Lamb chops looked, and I am told tasted, exceptional.

So for me, its a ‘meh’ three out of five….for everyone else, a strong ‘four’ I guess….as I’m webmaster and the boss of this site I’m giving it…

Very good Tandoori restaurant close to Heathrow Airport which means its excellent for inbound visitors to this? scepter’d isle who want to try the national dish.

A clean, beautifully furnished eatery who bring well spiced main courses to you in copper style dishes -a little different from the norm…

I had a Chicken Tikka Balti, and as I was 100 miles away from home and the Balti belt, was happily surprised with this little part of the capital cities take on the dish – lots of sliced onions and peppers , the chicken nice and tender.

My companions enjoyed theirs too, and next time we visit, we would probably return….unless someone can recommend somewhere better still?

Not world changing, but definitely no complaints, and good value on a Tuesday night.

This has got to be the wieirdest Indian restaurant I have ever visited.

Its actually a hotel on the Bath Road, right by Heathrow Airport, and the owners offer Indian food in the front bar.

It has a widescreen TV showing Sky Sports, was full of lager drinkers watching Arsenal, while we sat in the middle of this odd situation waiting for the food we had ordered.

My colleague (we were on a business trip) ordered a Chicken on Puree starter which came on a large puffed up puree bread and was ‘excellent’, apparently. It certainly looked good, while my Onion Bahjis tasted shop-bought (Asda, Sainsburys). Not so good.

Unfortunately the starters were the best part about the meal. My Chicken Tawa tasted like they had put BBQ Chicken into a bowl of Heinz Tomato Soup. Its supposed to taste of curry not tomato soup. My workmates Chicken Jalfrezi was floating in oil, and had none of the fresh green chilis necessary for this to be an authentic Jalfrezi.

The naans were’nt bad though, and were cut into four, dunno why. Maybe Londoners all have small hands?

Not really impressed, and the whole experience and vibe of the place is strange…
